Our Process
When people contact us, most have questions
regarding their project and how we will work
with them prior to meeting with us. Here are
some of the more common questions we get.
How do I start?
People usually have some idea about what
they want in a specific room(s), whether this is
a mural, decorative painting, painted cabinets,
custom artwork or faux finish. Often they have
seen something they like in a book, magazine,
or in someone else's home.
If they are not sure exactly what they want, they still will have colors and/or
fabrics that they desire to coordinate with their walls. All these ideas are
important as our purpose is to take your ideas and create unique environments
specifically for you.

When we come for an initial consultation we bring our portfolio of photographs
and sample boards that can assist in giving additional ideas and concepts to
think about and use. For us the most important service to provide in this meeting
is to understand what you want so we can bring this vision to life, whether as a
backdrop to enhance your room or as the point of focus in the space.

Do I need an Interior Designer?
Often of our clients have an interior designer or another outside resource person
assisting them in their project, whether it is one room or an entire house. But we
also work with clients individually. The design process is much the same: taking
your dream and making it a reality. As a note, we are not interior designers and
do not offer other services besides painted techniques. We are here to enhance
your walls, ceilings, floor, cabinets or whatever surface you desire painted, giving
your interior that finishing touch and integrating all the elements of your room.

What will my job cost?
Most our painted finishes, hand painting, and most murals are priced out by the
square foot. Each project is priced out as a flat fee, what you are quoted is what
you pay. We do not charge by the hour or the day, except in the case of a repair,
then an estimate of time is quoted. If at any point you decide to add to the
project, we will give you a quote for that new job before we start to work on it.

During our initial consult at your home we discuss options to accommodate your
budget. We talk about the look of the overall room and how complex the faux
technique or artwork should be to create that beautiful final product for you.
Sometimes a more simple faux or mural is the best option. At other times a
finish or mural can be multi layered and complex. It is our job to give you various
options that will best meet your desired end.

We can sometimes give you a price on the spot for one room or small projects.
More often we will send you a written proposal within a reasonable time frame.

How long will it take to complete my job?
Each project is different, but on average a faux in one room will take three to
seven days to complete and a mural will take one to three weeks. Some take
only a day. The larger the room the more time it will take.
Do I pay for design work?
If you decide to use us we will generally
need to make up design boards specific
to your job so that you will know exactly
what will be reproduced on your walls.
The exception is if you pick an existing
board from the portfolio that is the right
finish and color for your room. Since
designing is one of the more difficult
parts of the project, we do charge a
design fee. In return we bring back one
design board or multiple drawings if it is
a mural, or multiple boards for painted
finishes.
Why do a painted finish or mural instead of wallpaper or plain paint?
A home that combines solid paint and painted finishes often show off the spaces
better as they play against each other. Wallpapers, no matter how beautiful, are
still mass produced and often the pattern you like may not come in the color you
want. We will create a faux/mural that is designed to work specifically in your
room, saving you endless hours looking through wallpaper books or paint chips.
Once our painting is done it will last as long as you are in your home.

Furthermore, there are no seams to fix or paper to remove for resale, since most
faux/murals can simply be painted over. Your walls will be a conversation piece
and enhance other aspects of your home, as well as make your home unique and
personal.

How will a faux/murals hold up with my children?
All our clients with children love their faux painting since in most cases dirt and
fingerprints do not show up as easily as with a flat color. Since we do not add
water to our glazes or paint and use only premium products our finishes are very
durable. When we do add water to our paints, we will coat the final product with a
clear glaze. Therefore your walls are totally washable and will not fade or
disappear when wiped with a cool, soft damp cloth and mild soap. Never use
abrasives or heavy duty cleaners as they may take off the finish and leave marks.

Do we need to move our furniture before you start?
You need to remove breakable items in the room and all items off the walls
before we come in. We also would like you to disconnect video or audio
systems prior to our arrival and move them if they are on or next to the walls. We
can move most furniture, but if you wish to do so, please do this in advance of
our arrival to do the job.

When do I have to pay for the work?
We require a 50% payment at the start of the job. The balance is due upon
completion of the job before we leave the site. In some cases especially on large
projects, payments may be broken up into installments. Payment options are
discussed when designs are complete.
